About Us

Philosophy of the Perinatal Education Program
At Mayo Clinic, we recognize that the birth of a baby is one of life’s most profound and transformative experiences. Our Perinatal Education Program is committed to supporting the diverse educational needs of every family throughout their childbearing journey.
We provide comprehensive, evidence-based education rooted in best practices and guided by compassion, respect, and inclusivity. Our goal is to empower families with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to navigate pregnancy, birth, and early parenting with resilience and joy.
We believe that informed families are better equipped to make meaningful decisions, advocate for their care, and nurture strong, healthy beginnings.
Classes
The Perinatal Education Program provides classes for families preparing to welcome and care for their newborn. All classes reflect the philosophy and services of the Mayo Clinic Family Birth Center. Class participants often share similar questions, however, we explore options that will individualize your birth and parenting experience. Your family is important to us.
All classes are taught by Registered Nurses who are experienced Perinatal Educators.
Mayo Clinic Family Birth Center Tours
The Family Birth Center tour is for expectant families who wish to learn more about Mayo Clinic Rochester’s Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Tours are available both in-person and virtually. We encourage you to take a pre-birth tour approximately four to six weeks before your due date to help you feel more prepared for your baby’s arrival.
