Description
Did you know that nearly half of car seats are installed or used incorrectly, meaning many children are at risk. Our Infant Passenger Safety class is designed to help parents and caregivers feel confident about correct car seat use through demonstrations and evidence-based guidelines. Join our Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) certified RN educators to learn about car seat safety for infants through their first year of life.
You will learn how to select the right car seat and secure it properly in your vehicle. This course includes discussions, videos, written materials, sample seat belt systems, and car seat demonstrations, along with hands-on activities with commonly used car seats.
Anyone who transports infants is encouraged to attend, and each registration includes up to two adults.
It is recommended to take this class before purchasing a car seat, so many expectant parents take it early in pregnancy. However, if you already have a car seat, please bring it with you to class.
Topics include:
- MN child passenger safety laws
- Car seat features and selection
- Installation basics: Seat belt system and LATCH system
- Avoiding or fixing common mistakes
