5/11/2020: Mayo Clinic’s Perinatal Education Program is still here for you providing education and support during this unprecedented time. We have temporarily cancelled all in-person Perinatal Education classes and Family Birth Center tours, currently through the month of June. This decision is in line with precautions advised by the Centers for Disease Control to limit possible transmission of COVID-19, and to keep our campuses safe for you, our patients and our staff. We currently have four eClasses available online: Understanding Birth, Understanding Breastfeeding, Understanding Infant and Child Safety, and Understanding Your Newborn. We will continue to provide this format for learning until in-person classes can resume. Mayo Clinic continues to take a lot of precautions, and we hope to be back in the classroom meeting your education needs soon. Please note: We are still accepting registrations for in-person classes the month of July and beyond. We are also working on getting June 17th and later class dates for Breastfeeding and Pumping 101 and Infant Passenger Safety up as real-time Zoom options. So we are still taking registrations for those two classes for limited dates in June.

Understanding Infant and Child Safety eClass

Understanding Infant and Child Safety eClass

This eClass is a temporary replacement for Perinatal Education's Infant Passenger Safety in-person class. This eClass does cover safety concerns beyond car seat information and doesn't focus only on car seats.


You can access the eClass from any computer or mobile device with an Internet connection.

  • Emergency Preparedness


Additional Items for Local Mayo Clinic Rochester Patients:
In addition to this eClass, course materials from the local Infant Passenger Safety class will be sent to your home to supplement your learning. Childbirth Educators are available to schedule call session(s) to answer questions you may have after viewing the eClass and course materials if you choose.

How it works:

  • The class date(s) listed below are just placeholder seats and not your actual class date. Please select any available class date. Once you purchase your "seat" to the eClass, we will email you login instructions within seven days.
  • You’ll have access to the class for six months.

Cost is $30.
There will be no refund once registered and payment accepted.

For this eClass, you must register and pay online with credit card.

All registered participants will receive a confirmation email receipt within one hour after registering and further instructions for the eClass within seven days (be sure to check your e-mail junk folder if you don't see the e-mail in your inbox).
